Sioux Falls Veterans Win Free Internet from Bluepeak In Time for Independence Day

(SIOUX FALLS, S.D.) June 28, 2023 – Bluepeak announced today that two U.S. military veterans residing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, have won a month of free internet.

Cody Jones and Devin Burnham both served in the armed forces and were nominated for Bluepeak’s “Service-for-Your-Service” sweepstakes during May in honor of Military Appreciation Month. Jones hails from the Bakker Park neighborhood and has resided in the Best Little City in America for the last decade following his time in the Army National Guard. Burnham lives in the Silver Valley neighborhood and has called Sioux Falls home for the last 30 years after a career in the Air Force.

Both will receive a free month of internet service in July from Bluepeak as a gesture of appreciation for their service to our nation.

“We at Bluepeak are proud to recognize and honor the service of our military veterans like Cody and Devin,” said Lana Frank, Bluepeak Chief Commercial Officer. “We remain committed to supporting those who have served and continuing to build a stronger, more connected Sioux Falls.”

Jones was a sergeant with the 1st and 2nd Combined Arms Battalions at Camp Ripley in Little Falls, Minnesota, from 2009 to 2017. As a commander on the M1 Abrams tank, he earned two Army Achievement Medals and his tank crew claimed “Top Gun” honors in competition. Jones said the “travel and comradery,” including meeting his wife-of-10-years, Kristen, were the best part of his experience. He added that his most important lesson from his time in uniform was that “the freedom we do truly have is because of the those who serve or have served.” He is currently a flight paramedic for Avera through Careflight.

Burnham served as a sergeant with the 14th Civil Engineer Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi from 1986 to 1990. He was three times a member of an Outstanding Unit and individually was named an Outstanding Airman and Small Arms Expert. He cited “serving my country” as the best part of his experience and noted “duty and commitment” as the biggest influences his service had on his life. He is now self-employed in masonry repair.

More than 41,000 homes and businesses in Sioux Falls now have access to Bluepeak’s services, as the fiber internet provider recently reached a construction milestone as part of a $60 million investment to expand fiber access in the city.

In addition, Bluepeak is running their “Streamin’ Summer Sweepstakes” again this summer, offering a chance to win a year of free internet. Starting July 3, South Dakotans – and anyone that currently resides in Bluepeak’s serviceable area – can enter to win at mybluepeak.com/streaminsummer. The deadline to enter is midnight on Sept. 17.
