(RAPID CITY, S.D) – Dec. 12, 2022 – Rita Hollearn has lived in the Rapid City area since she was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1976. At the time, she was an enlisted Airmen serving as a crew chief on Boeing EC-135 command and control aircraft. Her four-year tour of duty took her places like Alaska, Hawaii, the United Kingdom and Japan.

“I loved my time in the service, it was very rewarding,” said Hollearn.

The Air Force veteran has since retired from a medical records job at Monument Health Hospital and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. Recently though, a promotion from her internet service provider, Bluepeak, caught her attention. In November, Bluepeak launched their “Service-for-Your-Service Sweepstakes” for veterans, in recognition of National Veteran and Military Families Month. The Sweepstakes offered a chance to win a month of free internet service to eligible veterans.

“I just thought it was great,” recalled Hollearn of seeing Bluepeak’s Service-for-Your-Service offer. “Any business that’s willing to acknowledge our veterans, our service members, that’s a good thing to do.”

As it happens, Hollearn’s veteran status made her eligible for the promotion and a few weeks after she entered, she received word she was one of four winners.

“I was so surprised,” remarked Hollearn of her selection.

Hollearn shared that her household are active internet users, logging on daily for things like news, email, games and social networking. Now – and just in time for the holidays – the cost of that service will be covered for the month of December, thanks to Bluepeak. Fortuntately, it’s a service that’s proved reliable for several years.

“We’ve been very happy with the service for years,” stressed Hollearn. “Any time I call, I get a courteous person to help me with my modem and internet, or cable TV. So I’ve been happy with the product.”
