(SHERIDAN, Wyo.) – Feb. 2, 2023 – The initial reviews are in and residents in Sheridan, Wyo., are loving Bluepeak‘s fast, reliable and affordable service. The fiber internet provider launched service in the Cowboy State community earlier this month as part of a $9 million invest to bring high-speed internet to nearly 9,000 residences and businesses in Sheridan.

Gary Powell is a retired construction worker who has called Sheridan home for the last 40 years. He was Bluepeak’s first customer in Sheridan to receive service and said he made the switch because his last provider “kept jacking up their prices.”

“About every nine to 12 months, I’d get a big increase on my bill,” Powell explained. “There was a couple of $25 increases and then several $10 increases.”

Powell said what he was getting compared to what he was paying wasn’t worth it and being on a fixed income made it worse. That won’t be a concern for him now. Bluepeak features transparent, all-in pricing, where the price on the website is the price on the bill, with a minimum speed tier of 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) internet service for just $50 per month.

Put simply, that’s a lower cost for faster speeds for Powell. That’s music to his ears that he’s shared with several other Sheridan residents.

“As soon as they get the service in their neighborhood, they are going to switch,” he said. “Everybody is sick of Spectrum.”

Fellow Sheridan resident Michael Knight echoed that sentiment, but his frustration was reliability.

“It was off and on as far as how it worked,” Knight said. “We didn’t have super good coverage throughout the house.”

Knight explained devices in their house like smart TVs and cell phones would lose their WiFi connection almost on a “daily basis,” causing issues with streaming and more. That hasn’t been an issue since their switch to Bluepeak, thanks in part to eero’s whole-home mesh WiFi system. The equipment comes free with Bluepeak service and sets up within minutes.

“The internet has been awesome,” he said. “It’s quick, more consistent and doesn’t go out all the time.”
