Fiber internet provider honoring those who served.
Retired Maj. Jens Christensen served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.
(RAPID CITY, S.D) – Dec. 12, 2022 – Jens Christensen has enjoyed retirement in the Rapid City community for the last 23 years, after coming to the area with an extensive career in the military. As a Civil Engineer in the Air Force from 1966 to 1986, he served at various bases around the United States and the world, including a year in Vietnam during the war.
During his time in service, Christensen was awarded the Bronze Star while in Saigon, Vietnam, and the Meritorious Service Award toward the end of his career. Christensen retired at the rank of major after 20 years of service. He credits the Air Force with giving him “life experiences and training which led to a lifetime career and living in and traveling to places I would not have been likely to go.”
Christensen is a proud graduate of South Dakota State and has passed that on to his three sons. All earned their degrees from SDSU as well and live in South Dakota. His oldest son is an environmental engineer at Ellsworth Air Force Base, while his middle son has been a pilot for United Airlines for 25 years and his youngest is a mechanical engineer.
This month, Christensen was awarded a month of free internet service from Bluepeak, his internet service provider, as a gesture of recognition for his service to our nation. In November, Bluepeak launched their “Service-for-Your-Service Sweepstakes” for veterans, in recognition of National Veteran and Military Families Month. The Sweepstakes offered a chance to win a month of free internet service to eligible veterans and Christensen was one of four Bluepeak customers selected.
Christensen said it was an “honor to be recognized” and added he “very much appreciates [Bluepeak] being supportive of the troops.”
