(LAWTON, Okla.) June 15, 2023 – The savings were too good to pass up for Joy Howeth. The Lawton, Oklahoma, resident made the switch to Bluepeak last week and will save over $100 a month, according to her.

“We were with Fidelity and they just got so expensive, I couldn’t afford it,” she said. “I had to save money. When you’re our age you need every penny you can get.”

Howeth is a fourth-generation Lawton local, while her husband, Vernon, is a 96-year-old Navy veteran that served in World War II. On top of the savings, the couple had even more reason to celebrate their switch when they became Bluepeak’s 1,000th subscriber since the service launched last year. To mark the milestone in Lawton, Bluepeak presented Howeth with a gift basket containing swag and goodies from local businesses.

“You’re kidding!” she exclaimed. “That has never happened to me before and I’m almost 85!”

Howeth and the rest of Lawton have welcomed the fiber internet provider with open arms. One of the company’s first customers here, Lawton-native Philip Thomas has been “amazed” with Bluepeak and recommends it to “everybody.”

The recent completion of more construction work in the city means more than 6,500 homes and businesses now have access to Bluepeak. Which is a key benchmark on the path to Bluepeak’s goal of building fiber to 40,000 homes and businesses with their $40 million investment in Lawton.

Thus far, Bluepeak’s service area in Lawton covers some of the west and central parts of the city – including some of the neighborhoods of Highland Park Meadowbrook/Heinz, Northwest Cache Road, Stonebridge Estates, Wyatt Acres, Northwest 67th Street and Crosby Park – and now more of Highland Park, along with additions of Arlington and Old Town North.

After wrapping up the latest construction zones in central Lawton, Bluepeak construction will continue in the Old Town North and Liberty Heights neighborhoods. For more information and to sign up for the latest Bluepeak updates in Lawton, visit mybluepeak.com.
